December 2008

I am sitting here, alone on a Saturday night. I could have gone out with a number of different people, but I decided to sit on Facebook for an hour. What does this have to do with loving people? Well, I bet I’m going to tell you. I love how people surprise me. I love seeing new, different sides of people whether it is good or bad. All these sublte things which make us who we are. This is creepy I know her name but Abi at the Tattered Cover said that “This is the season when everyone looses their spouse.” And I thought I should quote her. A girl at work tonight showed me that she actually could be a hard worker and although she doesn’t seem to be the most insightful person, proved me wrong. That also brings up how I love being proved wrong about people. It shows be how I shouldn’t be judgemental and I shouldn’t label. People don’t deserve labels and we tend to keep people stuck in the place where we judge them.

So, I love people even when I hate them…. I love people.

2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

- Colossians 4:2-6

13Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 14Do everything in love.

- 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

- 1 Peter 5:8-9

Be watchful AND thankful… be on your gurad, firm and couragous… be self-controlled and alert.

God is touching my heart with thoughts of watchfulness; be watchful for protection and for praise.

So often things sound better with strings.
